Minerals as Supplements for Your Health. Part 1.

Both minerals and vitamins are necessary for our body for proper development and keeping health. They work to strengthen each other.

Minerals are nutrients that the human body is not producing, so we have to get them from the food or intakes. Once doctors believed if people eat right diet they don’t need any minerals’ supplement. Whole foods, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, supply with a combination of fiber, minerals and vitamins provide human health.

So is it necessary to take supplements? Unfortunately, today most crops are farmed in impoverished soils there lack proper amounts of important minerals. Thus, to keep good health, we should complement our diet with mineral and vitamin supplements. To get best results, we need to evaluate nutritional supplements to select and use them correctly.

There are two kinds of minerals: macro minerals and trace or micro minerals. The body needs larger amounts of macro minerals than trace minerals. The macro mineral group includes calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulfur and chloride.

A trace of something means that there is just a little bit. So our body needs trace minerals in a tiny quantity of each one. Trace minerals include iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride, and selenium. Both kinds of minerals are important for good health.

Living healthy is never achieved by one factor but combining multiple ones. Just taking mineral supplements can’t replace a healthy diet, adequate sleep or healthy lifestyle. However these supplements help in the process of living healthy. For staying healthy people need to get adequate mineral supplements from childhood.
